National University stayed unscathed in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Collegiate Conference, sweeping Technological Institute of the Philippines, 25-17, 25-17, 25-18, Monday at Philsports Arena in Pasig.
Jaja Santiago led the shutout, uncorking 19 points, 14 from hits, three service aces, and two blocks.
Risa Sato had 10 markers, while Audrey Paran got nine as the Lady Bulldogs remained on top of Group A at 2-0.
“Gusto lang naman namin, maglaro sila bilang sila. No pressure,” said NU head coach Edjet Mabbayad, whose squad sent the Lady Engineers, who are coming off a win over the Ateneo Lady Eagles, crashing back to earth.
“Every game, maglalaro lang kami.”
NU still saw itself trailing, 10-4, in the second set before staging a huge fightback.
“Masyado silang nagrerelax pag nakikita nila na lumalamang kami ng malayo. Kailangan lang namin sila i-remind dahil mabilis makakuha ng kumpyansa ang kalaban,” Mabbayad said.
